NIMS HEART TO HEART
Under this project, NIMS hospital has been providing free heart surgeries to those who are under the poverty line. Till date 292 heart surgeries has been performed successfully for the downtrodden patients of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam Districts of Kerala.
NIMS heart foundation has till date performed 8000 angiograms , 3500 angioplasty and also 1260 open heart surgeries under “NIMS Heart to Heart Project” which is a noble campaign launched with an aim to help the poor and helpless patients. Padmashree Barath Mammootty is the project ambassador to the project “Heart to Heart”. In association with Mammootty Fans Association, NIMS has been performing free heart surgeries to those who are under the poverty line. Under Heart to Heart project, till date 54 open heart surgeries were successfully performed and all those 54 families have gone back to normal life with new hopes and aspirations. Under the Heart to Heart project, cardiology camps were conducted in the rural areas of Trivandrum and Kollam districts in which more than 12000 patients were given free heart checkups and treatments. The selected patients were provided with free Angiogram and angioplasty.
NIMS SPECTRUM CHILD DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH CENTRE
It is estimated that India has around 80 million people with disability, which may be age related, accident related or due to some medical conditions. According to the World Bank, one in every 12 households in India has a person living with disability.
Realizing the fact that rehabilitating the suffering ones to help them restore the health or normal life through training and therapy is the most prime human service to the society, NIMS SPECTRUM Child Development Research Centre aim at providing comprehensive rehabilitation services for the differently abled persons, all in one campus.
Dr. M.K.C. Nair, Former Vice Chancellor of Kerala University of Health Sciences and Founder Director of Child Development Centre(CDC), Kerala is the Fulltime Director of NIMS SPECTRUM and mentoring and overseeing its activities.
BILLING POLICY OF NIMS SPECTRUM
A special billing policy will also be followed for specially abled persons below the age of 15 by the NIMS SPECTRUM project which is as follows:

Though we bill them for the services provided, we will take only what they give… NIMS ANNE SULLIVAN Centre is another facility in the NIMS Campus aimed at providing sensory integration, behavioral therapy etc for the autistic children.
FREE DIALYSIS
The department of Nephrology was established at NIMS Medicity in October 2008 with a functional Dialysis unit. The patient care services provided by the division of Nephrology at NIMS cover all aspects of our clinical discipline including preventive nephrology, acute kidney injury, glomerulonephritis, vasculitis, electrolyte and acid-base disorders, hypertension, genetic kidney diseases, renal complications of pregnancy, kidney stone disease, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and renal osteodystrophy. We provide primary care to a large group of patients with end–stage renal disease (ESRD) treated with hemodialysis. We provide a complete range of consultative, diagnostic and treatment services for patients with kidney diseases. The scope of care encompasses all stages of kidney disease, from earliest detectable changes in kidney function through end-stage kidney disease, as well as people with Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 & 2, high blood pressure, kidney stones, and other kidney- related problems. The department is equipped with round the clock continuous renal replacement therapy and hemodialysis as well as dialysis facility in the intensive care units. Twin operation theatre and six-bedded post transplant ICU with all advanced facilities are available in the department.
NIMS Medicity has Initiated Free dialysis project for the needy and the financially downtrodden patients in and around Thiruvananthapuram District. Till date 10029 free dialysis has been done under this project.
On 25 th December 2021 a new project namely “ Thangum Thanalum” has been initiated in association with Marthoma Church, Nanthancode, Trivandrum to provide free dialysis to financially downtrodden people.
Neyyattinkara Pension Plan (Free pension for Differently abled children)
“Neyyattinkara Pension Plan” a monthly pension scheme for the differently abled children in Neyyattinkara Municipality and Athiyannoor, Koollayil, Kottukal, Balaramapuram, Permukadavial panchayts.
During the current pandemic situation, one of the most affected groups is the disabled children and their families. Along with continued therapies and training, nutritional food is also highly essential for the disabled children. Due to pandemic they most of the parents might not be in a position to afford for nutritional food for their disabled children.
It is in this back ground NIMS initiated a new scheme namely Neyyattinkara Pension Plan, where a monthly pension of Rs. 1150/- be given to the disabled child to meet at least the cost of nutritional food of the child. Currently the pension is given to 351 disabled children belonging to Neyyattinkara Municipality and Athiyannoor, Koollayil, Kottukal, Balaramapuram, Permukadavial panchayts. The project was inaugurated by Shri. P.K. Rajmohan, Chairman, Neyyattinkara Municipality on 11-06-2021.
NIMS FREE FOOD ITEMS KIT FOR INPATIENTS
“NIMS Free food item kit for inpatients” is a project implemented during the COVID pandemic in association with Triveni Consumerfed, where all inpatients of NIMS Medicity, at the time of their discharge will be provided with a coupon which may be redeemed at the Triveni Consumerfed mobile shop stationed at NIMS Medicity campus for purchase of groceries and other essential commodities. The special features of the project is that it is implemented in association with Consumerfed and the discharged patients are free to select the groceries or other essential commodities according to their need and preference.
The goal behind the project was to provide the discharged patients with the most essential grocery and other commodities so that they can carry the essential groceries along with them while they return to their homes. Also, through this project the discharged patients need not go to shops or other crowded places for purchase of groceries thereby abiding to the COVID 19 protocols.
MEDICAL AID FOR BELOW POVERTY LEVEL (BPL) PATIENTS
Since NIMS Medicity is situated in a rural area, spending capacity of the people for quality treatment was always a constraint. Since NIMS Medicity is functioning with the vision of providing high quality healthcare with competence and compassion at an affordable cost to all without any discrimination, the project namely ”Medical aid for BPL Patients” was implemented. Under this project the treatment cost is provided for the needy, financially downtrodden persons.
FREE CIVIL SERVICE COACHING
Noorul Islam Civil Service Academy is a school-student level Civil service programme named after the Veteran Gandhian “Padma Shri P. Gopinathan Nair. The noble vision of the Academy is to provide free training to the school students not only to prepare them for Civil Service and other competitive examinations but also to provide them a platform for developing interpersonal skills through debates, seminars, group discussions etc. NIMS Civil service academy is privileged to be the first to conceptualize such an idea of free school level civil service training for the rural students. Eight batches of students from various rural areas of Thiruvananthapuram District have already enrolled in the academy. The students are selected based on the entrance examination followed by an interview. The shortlisted students will be imparted training for Civil Service and other competitive Examinations, by Civil service experts.
A galaxy of committed and experienced trainers takes classes for the students which include former and serving IAS officers, former and serving administrators, scientists, professors, teachers, skill trainers, journalists, , entrepreneurs, artists etc.
NIMS FREE MEDICAL CAMPS
NIMS free medical camp is one of special initiative of NIMS Medicity to provide health care services through medical camps to meet the immediate health care needs of the marginalized community in remote rural areas. This project has been initiated since the inception of NIMS Medicity. By these health check up camp, treatment and medicines are provided free of cost. Medical professionals including speciality and super specialty departments such as cardiology, Orthopedics, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, General Surgery, ophthalmology, Dentistry, physiotherapy, audiology etc provide consultations in such camps. Blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, GRBS, ECG, eye test, hearing test etc will be done free of cost during such camps. When additional assistance is needed the patients are given referral to the hospital.
SAPLING FOR NEW BORN BABY
New life is a wonder of Nature. New baby born at NIMS is a matter of joy and pride for us. We at NIMS Medicity celebrate the birth of a child with a gift to both the tiny baby and Nature. Gift in the form of a tree sapling…A birth tree that grows alongside the child and years later many such children and plants could result in a forest of happiness….
NIMS HARITHAKAM
NIMS Naturals and NIMS Harithakam aims at planting 1,00,000 fruit trees. Till date planted more than 40,000 saplings at various places in the district.
Established a medicinal plant garden at Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education with more than 1000 plants of the pristine Kanyakumari District.
With the aim of promoting and preserving the traditional farmers and farming techniques, established Bee keeping (Apiculture) units in and around the campus of Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education.

Training to Improve General medical Education awareness and Research (T.I.G.E.R) is an awareness programme of NIMS Medicity under Mother Theresa Quality and service policy aiming proper awareness to public in every aspect of Life. T.I.G.E.R will act as an anytime information for by public by conducting various informative training programmes and seminars by giving an opportunity for public to interact with experts in concerned sectors.
